    The course includes 7 live online sessions spread over 4-5 months. Dates will be based on the availability of interested participants.

  • Meeting Times

    All online sessions will last 60-minutes, EXCEPT for the first and final sessions which will last 90-minutes. Times will be based on the availability of interested participants.

Course curriculum

Each unit consists of three ~10-minute self-study videos that conclude with prompts for personal reflections which are then discussed during each unit's one-hour online discussion session.

    1. The course will kick-off with a 90-minute welcome and orientation session where the 10-12 participants will get to know one another and become familiar with the course structure, format and LMS.

    1. Before delving into the arms of the Star Framework, it's important to cover the central concepts of Conscious Choice, Self-Awareness, and Self-Worth.

    2. Video 1.1 - Conscious Choice: The Power of Saying Yes and No

    1. This unit will cover the three different types of sight leaders must have, describe the natural human tendencies that often create dangerous “blind spots”, and provide practical tools to help leaders address them.

    1. Leadership is fraught with inevitable challenges and set-backs. In this unit, we’ll introduce participants to the "Leader's Compass" which helps leaders develop perseverance and passion for long-term goals.

    1. This unit will cover the three critical abilities every leader must possess and develop in their team: Availability, "Response-ability", and Accountability.

    1. The final unit will explore how great leaders get great results, and specifically how they achieve them by promoting team integrity and empowering others through a "whole person approach".

  • What do you mean when you say a course is longitudinal

    This course is more than a collection of videos and webinars. Rather, it is a series of lessons, each of which builds on content from previous lessons. The spacing of these lessons along with the live, online discussions that occur over several months helps foster conditions for constructive introspection, reflection and sharing that maximizes participant learning and retention.

  • What if I can't attend all the live, online sessions?

    Given the interactive nature of the course, when participants miss a session, it adversely impacts not only their own experience, but the experience of other participants as well. For that reason, only participants who attend the first and final session, AND at least four of the five other sessions will be eligible to request a certificate of completion and be listed on the PLEI website.

  • I attended one of your classes that included the STAR framework. How does this class differ?

    In most of our classes, we touch on the Star Framework because it is the foundation of our leader-development mindset. In this Star Framework course, we will be doing a deep dive into all the points and will be studying how the various aspects of The Star Framework inform our leadership style and our work/life relationships. If you attended a recent PLEI program specifically focused on The Star Framework, our online course on The Leader's Compass may be a better fit for you.   • I have a colleague who would also like to take the course. Can we participate in the live sessions from the same computer?

    Unfortunately, much of the time spent during our live sessions involves distributing participants into small virtual breakout rooms. Consequently, each participant is required to join the sessions from their own computer.

  • How long will I have access to the course materials?

    Students who register for the course will receive a downloadable workbook that is theirs to keep. Access to the course videos will be provided for 180-days from the start of the course. Continued access to the videos will be made available for individuals who become paid subscribers to PLEI's online Academy of Leader Development.
