Course curriculum

Each unit consists of two-to-three ~10-minute videos that conclude with prompts for personal reflections which are then discussed during each unit's one-hour online discussion session.

    1. During this live, online session, participants will be presented with an overview of course logistics, and each 8-12 person learning pod will have an opportunity to get to know one another.

    1. During this unit, we’ll discuss the two different types of vision leaders must have, describe the natural human tendencies that cloud our vision and create dangerous “blind spots”, and we’ll provide practical tools to help you expand both types of vision

    1. During our 2nd unit, we'll review how individuals unconsciously give away their power to influence the people and circumstances around them, and present a simple paradigm help you recognize when you’re giving your power away, and how to take it back.

    2. Video 2.2 - Victim/Player Distinction & Acceptance

    1. In the 3rd unit of the course you'll learn how people and teams work best when they are "whole and complete", how breakdowns in integrity commonly occur, and how to prevent such breakdowns from occurring.

    1. In the 4th unit, we’ll introduce another framework to help leaders discover the domain in which they’re best positioned to lead, and then how to get in that game and stay in the game despite the inevitable challenges and setbacks.

    1. In unit 5, we’ll discuss how great leaders get great results, and specifically how they achieve them by empowering others through a "whole person approach".

  • What do you mean when you say a course is longitudinal

    This course is more than a collection of videos and webinars. Rather, it is a series of lessons, each of which builds on content from previous lessons. The spacing of these lessons along with the live, online discussions that occur over several months helps foster conditions for constructive introspection, reflection and sharing that maximizes participant learning and retention.

  • What if I can't attend all the live, online sessions?

    Given the interactive nature of the course, when participants miss a session, it adversely impacts not only their own experience, but the experience of other participants as well. For that reason, only participants who attend the first and final session, AND at least four of the five other sessions will be eligible to request a certificate of completion and be listed on the PLEI website.

  • I attended one of your classes that included the STAR framework. How does this class differ?

    In most of our classes, we touch on the Star Framework because it is the foundation of our leader-development mindset. In our STAR framework class, we will be doing a deep dive into all the points and will be studying how the various aspects of the STAR framework inform our leadership style and our work/life relationships. If you attended a recent PLEI program specifically focused on the Star Framework, our online course on The Leader's Compass may be a better fit for you.   • I have a colleague who would also like to take the course. Can we participate in the live sessions from the same computer?

    Unfortunately, much of the time spent during our live sessions involves distributing participants into small virtual breakout rooms. Consequently, each participant is required to join the sessions from their own computer.

  • How long will I have access to the course materials?

    Students who register for the course will receive a downloadable workbook that is theirs to keep. Access to the course videos will be provided for 180-days from the start of the course. Continued access to the videos will be made available for individuals who become paid subscribers to PLEI's online Academy of Leader Development.
